The Campus Chemical Instrument Center (CCIC)
was founded in 1981 as a unit of the Office of Research. The mission
of the CCIC is to provide state-of-the-art research facilities for
the entire campus in three areas: Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Mass
Spectrometry and Proteomics. Since the NMR, MS and Proteomics
Facilities are central hubs for the Ohio NMR and Ohio MS
Consortiums, respectively, all researchers in the colleges and
universities of the State of Ohio have access to all facilities of
the CCIC with the same user fees. Associate Director for NMR, Dr.
Charles Cottrell, is in charge of the daily operation of the NMR
Facility, and Associate Director for MS, Dr. Kari Green-Church, is
in charge of the daily operation of the MS&P Facility. Ruth Luketic
runs the business aspect the CCIC, while Robin Gates handles our
Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Facility. Over the years the CCIC has expanded not only instrumentation and
staff, but also the data collection and data processing
capabilities. Computer support now known as the Network Operations
Center oversees day-to-day tasks on IBM Blade Center™ equipment
making the CCIC one of the most advanced computer operations centers
in the state. The NOC also collaborates with the Ohio Supercomputer
Center to utilize 3rd Frontier Network technologies as well as
support statewide users with otherwise unattainable hardware and
software. The OSU Office of Research provides personnel support of the CCIC.
Equipment funding has been provided by Ohio Board of Regents,
National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and
Office of Research.
